Samantha Martinez Killed in Lubbock Two-Vehicle Crash on 34th Street; Elisa Bengoa Arrested

Lubbock, Texas (March 14, 2022) – A woman was killed Sunday morning in a DWI crash in central Lubbock, according to the authorities.

The fatal crash happened around 3:38 a.m., March 13, in the 4400 block of 34th Street.

Authorities said Elisa Bengoa, 43, was driving westbound when she rear-ended another vehicle driven by Samantha Martinez, 30.

Bengoa’s vehicle then struck a building while Martinez’s vehicle came to a stop at the intersection of 34th Street and Salem Avenue.

Martinez was pronounced dead at the scene.

Bengoa was taken to University Medical Center. She was then arrested and has been charged with intoxication manslaughter.

The police are investigating the crash.
