Samantha Skaggs Killed in DUI Crash on I-20 in Arlington

Samantha Skaggs Killed in Arlington Three-Vehicle Crash on Interstate 20

Arlington, Texas (April 18, 2021) – A woman was killed early Friday morning in a DUI crash in Arlington, according to police.

The fatal crash happened around 2:30 a.m., on April 16, in the 1100 block of Interstate 20, near Collins Street.

Police said Michael Bailey, 38, of Arlington, was driving a passenger vehicle when he swerved and crashed into a truck tractor towing a semi-trailer. The truck driver tried to take evasive action causing the truck tractor and semi-trailer to jackknife across all the westbound lanes.

Maxine Skaggs, 21, of Alberta, Canada, was driving a passenger vehicle when she struck the semi-trailer. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

No other injuries were reported in the crash.

Bailey was arrested on an intoxication manslaughter charge.

The crash closed the interstate for several hours.

The authorities are investigating the crash.
