Sandy Reed and Keesha Ivey Killed, Four Injured in Van Zandt County Car Crash on State Highway 19

Van Zandt County, Texas (October 14, 2019) – Two people were killed, and four others were injured in a three-vehicle crash on Friday in Van Zandt County, a local news source reported.

The fatal crash happened on Friday, October 5, on State Highway 19, just north of Canton.

According to a preliminary investigation, a Chevrolet pickup was heading southbound on the highway when it crossed into the northbound lanes and sideswiped a Mitsubishi Endeavor. The impact caused the Mitsubishi to veer into the southbound lanes where it crashed into a ditch.

The pickup then crashed head-on into a Chevrolet Equinox, which was traveling behind the Mitsubishi.

The Equinox driver, Sandy Reed, 37, and passenger, Keesha Ivey, 46, both of Sulphur Springs, were pronounced dead at the scene.

Two other passengers in the Equinox, 9-year-old Jacob Reed and 14-year-old Kaycee Ivey, were taken to Cook’s Children’s Hospital with severe injuries.

The pickup driver, William Ivey, of Trinidad, and the Mitsubishi driver, Michael Millier, 60, of Canton, were taken to a Tyler hospital in unknown conditions.

Jacob has since been released. Kaycee remains in critical condition. The family asks for continued prayers for her recovery.
