Sarah Ann Lewers Hit, Killed by Vehicle on Austin Highway in San Antonio

53-Year-Old Sarah Ann Lewers Killed in San Antonio Pedestrian Accident on Austin Highway

San Antonio, Texas (May 7, 2020) – The 53-year-old woman who was killed Sunday night in a pedestrian accident in San Antonio’s Northeast Side has been identified as Sarah Ann Lewers, according to the Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office.

The deadly accident happened around 11:30 p.m. May 3, in the 1750 block of Austin Highway, near Bitter Blue Lane and Eisenhauer Road.

Police said Lewers was pushing a shopping cart on the highway when she was hit by a 1996 black Ford Ranger pickup truck which was traveling northeast.

Lewers was pronounced dead at the scene. 

The Ford driver told officers that it was very dark and he didn’t see Lewers in the roadway. He stopped and rendered aid after the accident.

An investigation is underway.
