Sgt. Chad Ainsworth Injured in Crash on Highway 96 in Lumberton

Sgt. Chad Ainsworth Hospitalized after Lumberton Car Crash on Highway 96 at Walton Road

Lumberton, Texas (June 4, 2022) – Sgt. Chad Ainsworth was hospitalized Friday night following a traffic collision in Lumberton, according to the Lumberton Police Department.

The crash happened at about 10:30 p.m. Friday, June 3, on Highway 96 at Walton Road.

Police said a patrol unit carrying Ainsworth and K9 unit Leroy was hit by a civilian car on Highway 96 at Walton Road.

Ainsworth was transported to a local hospital and was released early Saturday morning.

Leroy was limping after the accident and he is expected to be OK.

The driver of the civilian car that hit the patrol vehicle was not injured.

Further details regarding the collision were immediately provided.

The accident remains under investigation.
