Shane Simmons Killed in Smith County Two-Vehicle Crash on CR-285
Smith County, Texas (September 28, 2019) – One person was killed in a two-vehicle crash Friday morning in Smith County, east of Tyler, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.
The fatal crash took place around 10:36 a.m. September 27, on CR-285.
DPS said Eric Golembeck, 43, of Tyler, was driving a 2008 Ford F-250 towing a utility trailer eastbound on the highway while Shane Simmons, 56, of Whitehouse, was driving a Ford F-150 westbound.
The trailer of the Ford F-250 began to sway and went into the westbound lane where it collided with the F-150.
Simmons was declared dead at the scene.
The crash remains under investigation.
