Shawn Parsons Killed in Deaf Smith County Two-Vehicle Accident on FM 809 at FM 1062

Deaf Smith County, Texas (July 1, 2019) – One person was killed Saturday night in a two-vehicle crash in Deaf Smith County, five miles north of Dawn, authorities said.

The fatal crash happened around 7:11 p.m. June 29, on FM 809 in the area of FM 1062.

Authorities said a 2016 Freightliner truck-tractor/semi-trailer was traveling southbound on FM 809 when a 2017 Hyundai Accent failed to yield right of way at the intersection before turning left onto FM 809 from westbound FM 1062.

The semi then rear-ended the Hyundai.

The driver of the semi, Shawn Parsons of Amarillo was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Hyundai driver, 22-year-old Jacob San-Miguel of Hereford, was uninjured in the crash. He was wearing a seat belt.

The Texas Highway Patrol Troopers is investigating the crash.
