Sherry Randall and Lance Modisette Killed in Nacogdoches County Two-Vehicle Crash on US 259

Nacogdoches County, Texas (May 28, 2023) – Two people were killed following a two-vehicle crash that happened on Friday, May 19, in Nacogdoches County, according to the authorities.

The fatal crash happened on US Highway 259.

Authorities said Sherry Randall, 71, of Nacogdoches, was driving a 2006 Toyota Avalon when she attempted to turn into a private driveway and was hit by a speeding 2018 Chevrolet Camaro driven by Lance Modisette, 18, of Lufkin.

Randall was taken to a Nacogdoches hospital, where she was pronounced dead on May 27.

Modisette was pronounced dead at the scene. Modisette was a member of the Lufkin Panthers baseball team and the Thundering 13 baseball team. Trennan Bearden, 18, of Lufkin, who was a passenger in Modisette’s car, was treated at Nacogdoches Medical Center and released.

A 2018 Ford Mustang struck the debris from the crash, and the driver was uninjured.

The crash remains under investigation.
