Stephanie Gillespie ID’d as Woman Killed in Mauriceville Crash on Texas Highway 62 and County Road 3139

Mauriceville, Texas (September 27, 2022) – The Texas Department of Public Safety has identified the woman who died Monday morning following a two-vehicle crash in Mauriceville as Stephanie Gillespie, 53, of Orange.

The deadly crash happened shortly after 7:00 a.m. Monday, September 26, near the intersection of Texas Highway 62 and County Road 3139, just inside southern Newton County.

DPS said Gillespie was driving a Ford SUV northbound on Texas highway 62 when a southbound Ford pickup veered into the northbound lane and struck the SUV.

Gillespie was pronounced deceased on the scene by a Justice of the Peace.

The driver of the SUV was pronounced deceased on the scene by a Justice of the Peace. Their information is not immediately available pending notification of their next of kin.

The driver of the pickup, identified as Daniel Burge, 20, of Call, was transported to St. Elizabeth Hospital for treatment.

Further details regarding the collision were immediately provided.

The accident remains under investigation.
