Sydney Caldwell Killed in El Paso Pedestrian Accident on Loop 375 and North Loop

El Paso, Texas (September 28, 2019) – A homeless, disabled veteran in a wheelchair was struck and killed by a semi-truck Friday afternoon in El Paso, according to the police.

The accident occurred around 4:00 p.m. on Friday, September 27, on Loop 375 and North Loop.

Police Sydney Caldwell was on his wheelchair when he was hit by a semi-truck at the intersection.

Caldwell was killed in the crash. He was a disabled veteran who had been homeless for roughly two decades and was living out of his van, which was parked at a mechanic shop in the neighborhood.

The pedestrian was killed in the crash.

Both directions of North Loop were closed following the crash.

An investigation is underway.
