Arlington, Texas – The man who was seriously injured last month in a hit-and-run accident in Arlington has died, according to the police.

Tajudeen “TJ” Salami died on January 1 at the hospital.

The deadly accident happened just after 9:00 p.m., on December 18, at the intersection of East Park Row Drive and Susan Drive.

Police said 25-year-old Paula Cely-Bernal was driving a Mazda when she hit a Honda Civic at the intersection, causing it to leave the roadway and hit 44-year-old Tajudeen “TJ” Salami on the sidewalk.

Salami was taken to the hospital where he was kept alive by a ventilator for two weeks. He was pronounced dead on January 1.

Cely-Bernal fled the scene after the accident but was later arrested and charged with accident involving serious bodily injury. She bonded out in December. She is now facing an upgraded charge of accident involving death after Salami’s death.

The police are investigating the crash.

Common Causes of Automobile Accidents

There are many different reasons why automobile, pedestrian, 18-wheeler, bicycle, and motorcycle accidents occur, including driver negligence, driver inattention, texting and driving, speeding, fatigue, failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign, or private drive, running a red light, and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. While the factors listed above are the main causes of most accidents, there may also be other factors involved, which is why it’s important that an investigation be conducted before evidence disappears, especially in cases involving a fatality.  At Joel A. Gordon & Associates, we will act quickly to secure accident scene photos, interview witnesses, obtain police records, and secure other valuable evidence needed to win your case.  Call now for a free consultation.
