Tashayna Samuel Killed in Jasper Pedestrian Accident on FM 2800 near Dennis Drive

Jasper, Texas (January 13, 2021) – A woman was killed in a hit-and-run crash early Tuesday morning in Jasper, according to police.

The deadly accident happened around 4:00 a.m., January 12, on FM 2800 (West Martin Luther King Drive), just west of Dennis Drive.

Police said Tashayna Samuel, 30, of Jasper County, was struck by a vehicle on the highway.

The vehicle fled the scene after the scene.

Samuel was pronounced dead at the scene.

Broken pieces from the suspect vehicle were found at the scene. The suspect vehicle, a 2005 stealth gray Hummer H2, was found at the Hope Village Apartment Complex in the 700 block of Pollard Street in Jasper.

The suspect, a 24-year Jasper man, was arrested and taken into custody. He has been charged with Felony 2 Manslaughter.

The crash remains under investigation.
