Teresa Arenas Vasquez Killed in Rio Hondo Two-Vehicle Crash on FM 106 and Centerline Road

Rio Hondo, Texas (August 29, 2019) – A woman was killed in a two-vehicle crash on Thursday, east of Rio Hondo, according to a local news source.

The fatal crash occurred on FM 106 and Centerline Road.

Police said a Green Kenworth tractor trailer was heading westbound on F.M. 106 while a Red Chevrolet Sonic passenger car was traveling eastbound. For unknown reasons, the Chevrolet driver veered onto the westbound lane and collided with the Kenworth.

75-year-old Teresa Arenas Vasquez, of San Benito, who was a passenger in the Chevrolet, was declared dead at the scene.

The Chevrolet driver was taken to Valley Baptist in Harlingen in unknown condition.

The driver of the Kenworth was uninjured in the crash.

Motorists were urged to seek alternate routes.

No further details were provided.

The troopers are investigating the crash.
