Theodore Tjomsland Struck, Killed by Car on Ben White Boulevard in South Austin

Theodore Tjomsland ID’d as Man in Wheelchair Killed in South Austin Pedestrian Accident on East Ben White Boulevard 

Austin, Texas (February 19, 2020) – The man in a wheelchair who was struck and killed by a vehicle Friday night in South Austin has been identified as Theodore Tjomsland, 56, according to the police.

The accident happened around 7:15 p.m. February 14, in the 200 block of East Ben White Boulevard near South Congress Avenue.

Police said Tjomsland was in a wheelchair and was attempting to cross eastbound service road from the south curb line when he was struck by a 1993 black Honda Civic that was traveling eastbound in the left lane of the service road.

Tjomsland was declared dead at the scene. 

There is no crosswalk in that part of the highway and is not well lit at night.

The Civic driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigators.
