Tiffany Sammons, Ashley Martin and Aiden Wood ID’d as 3 Victims In Fatal Wood County Car Crash on U.S. 69 near Alba

Wood County, Texas (January 11, 2023) – The Texas Department of Public Safety have identified the three people who were killed on Saturday night in a head-on collision in Wood County as Tiffany N. Sammons, 39, of Longview, Ashley Martin, 44, and Aiden Wood, 16, both of Allen.

The deadly crash occurred at about 9:30 p.m. Saturday, January 7, on U.S. 69, about one mile southeast of Alba.

DPS said a 2009 Hyundai Santa Fe, driven by Sammons, was traveling southeast on U.S. 69 when, for an unknown reason, the Hyundai veered into the opposite lane and collided head-on with a 2017 Ford Explorer that was heading northwest on U.S. 69, driven by Martin.

A third vehicle, a 2020 Dodge Ram 3500 towing a Kearney Gooseneck trailer, hit the Ford on the passenger side. The Dodge veered off the road and traveled south toward an area with trees.

Sammons died at the scene. Martin and her passenger, Wood, were pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Dodge was unhurt.

Further details regarding the collision were immediately provided.

The crash remains under investigation.

Common Causes of Automobile Accidents

There are many different reasons why automobile, pedestrian, 18-wheeler, and motorcycle accidents occur, including driver negligence, driver inattention, texting and driving, speeding, fatigue, failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign, or private drive, running a red light, and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. While the factors listed above are the main causes of most accidents, there may also be other factors involved, which is why it’s important that an investigation be conducted before evidence disappears, especially in cases involving a fatality.  At Joel A. Gordon & Associates, we will act quickly to secure accident scene photos, interview witnesses, obtain police records, and secure other valuable evidence needed to win your case.  Call now for a free consultation.
