Tim Wood Killed After Pickup Crashes into South Lubbock Tech Cafe on University Avenue

Lubbock, Texas (November 1, 2020) – Two people were killed, and five others were injured Saturday morning after a pickup truck crashed into a Tech Cafe in South Lubbock, according to authorities.

The deadly crash happened around 9:16 a.m., October 31, at Tech Cafe in the 11703 block of University Avenue.

Authorities said the driver of a pickup truck, a 72-year-old man, parked in the front of the building when he accidentally placed his vehicle into drive instead of reverse. The vehicle accelerated forward and crashed through the front of the building, and struck multiple people who were sitting at tables.

One person was pronounced dead at the scene.

Five people were taken to the hospital, where one of them later died.

The deceased victims have been identified as Danny Watson, 68, of Lubbock, and Tim Wood, 69, of Lubbock.

One person was treated and released at the scene.

The authorities are investigating the crash.
