Tojuanna Pierce Killed in Car Crash on US 287 near Goodnight

Goodnight, Texas (September 12, 2019) – One person was killed in a two-vehicle crash Wednesday afternoon near Goodnight, according to a local news release.

The crash occurred on Wednesday, September 11, on US 287.

DPS said a tractor-trailer was heading eastbound on the highway when it rear-ended an SUV. The impact caused the SUV to spin out of control and move into the center median. The SUV then hit the far slope of the median and rotated once more before coming to rest.

Tojuanna Pierce, 60, of Clarendon, who was a passenger in the SUV, was ejected. Pierce was declared dead at the scene. She was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

The SUV driver was taken to Northwest Texas Hospital with severe injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.
