Tomball Man Killed in Plane Crash near Private Runway in Zavalla

40-Year-Old Man Killed in Zavalla Plane Crash near Private Runway

Zavalla, Texas (June 28, 2020) – A 40-year-old Tomball man was killed in a plane crash early Saturday morning in Zavalla, according to officials.

The crash happened at about 2:00 a.m. near a private landing strip.

Officials said the man was flying a single-engine Piper Aircraft from Tomball to Zavalla when he clipped the top of some trees and crashed just north of the private runway.

The plane wasn’t located until around 12:30 p.m., and the pilot was pronounced dead at the scene.

The FAA and the NTSB are investigating the crash.
