Tony Alvarez Killed in Fatal Two-Vehicle Crash on Interstate 10 in Orange County

Tony Alvarez ID’d as Victim of Fatal Orange County Crash on I-10

Orange County, Texas (April 18, 2019) – The Texas Department of Public Safety has released the identity of the man who was killed in a crash involving a big rig on Wednesday afternoon in Orange County.
58-year-old Tony Alvarez of Houston died in the collision that took place on Interstate 10 near mile marker 858 around 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 17.
According to the DPS, 43-year-old Leon David May II of Port Arthur, was driving a dump truck westbound on I-10 when one of the tires blew out. May lost control and struck a Ford flatbed truck driven by Alvarez. The impact pushed the truck off the side where it struck the concrete wall, rolled over and caught fire.
Alvarez was taken to St. Elizabeth’s in Beaumont, where he was pronounced deceased.
May sustained serious injuries and was taken to a Galveston hospital for treatment.
No other injuries were reported.
The DPS is investigating the wreck.
