Trenton Ballard ID’d as Deputy Injured in Calhoun County Pedestrian Accident on U.S. 35 near Point Comfort
Calhoun County, Texas (February 9, 2019) – The deputy who was struck and injured by a car Friday morning in Calhoun County near the Jackson County line has been identified as 29-year old, Trenton Ballard, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.
The accident took place just after 5:45 a.m. February 8, on U.S. 35 north of Point Comfort.
DPS said Deputy Ballard was directing traffic following an earlier crash when he was hit by a silver Dodge Ram extended cab pickup truck.
The deputy was airlifted to Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston where he was listed in stable condition.
The pickup driver fled the scene after the accident and the authorities are looking for the suspect.
The crash remains under investigation.
