Bee County, Texas (January 23, 2020) – Two men were killed, and another was injured in a head-on crash Wednesday morning in Bee County, south of Normanna, according to the DPS.

The fatal crash occurred around 9:56 a.m., January 22, on U.S. Highway 181.

DPS said a 2017 Peterbilt truck tractor semi-trailer was traveling southbound on the highway while a 2009 Dodge Ram pickup truck, pulling a utility trailer, was heading northbound.

For an unknown reason, the Peterbilt truck veered into the northbound lane and crashed head-on into the Dodge.

A 61-year-old Fort Worth man and a 74-year-old Arlington man, in the Dodge, were pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Peterbilt was taken to Spohn Shoreline Hospital in Corpus Christi with serious, but non-life threatening injuries.

Investigators said the highway was wet at the time of the crash.

U.S. 181 was closed for about three hours after the crash. Traffic was re-routed to Charco Road in Beeville.

The DPS is investigating the crash.
