Uvence Davila and Dominga Davila Injured in Victoria Two-Vehicle Crash on Houston Highway at Ben Wilson Street

Victoria, Texas (April 22, 2022) – Two people were seriously injured on Thursday in a two-vehicle crash in Victoria, according to a local news source.

The crash happened around 7:30 a.m., on April 21, in the 2600 block of Houston Highway at the intersection of the 2600 block of N. Ben Wilson Street.

According to the report, a silver Kia Sportage occupied by Uvence Davila, 81, and Dominga Davila, 79, both of Victoria, was traveling westbound in the left turn lane of Houston Highway while a blue/gray Mazda CX-5, occupied by Sydney Partain, 18, of Victoria, was traveling eastbound in the 2800 block of Houston Highway.

The Sportage made a left turn onto N. Ben Wilson Street and failed to yield the right of way to oncoming eastbound traffic. The front left of the Mazda then struck the front right of the Sportage.

The Sportage traveled northeast following the impact and crashed into a street lamp pole.

Uvence and Dominga were taken to Citizen’s Medical Hospital with serious injuries. They were later taken to a San Antonio hospital for additional treatment. One of the victims remains in critical condition.

Partain did not sustain serious injuries in the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.

Common Causes of Automobile Accidents

There are many different reasons why automobile, 18-wheeler, and motorcycle accidents occur, including driver negligence, driver inattention, texting and driving, speeding, fatigue, failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign or private drive, running a red light, and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. While the factors listed above are the main causes of most accidents, there may also be other factors involved, which is why it’s important that an investigation be conducted before evidence disappears, especially in cases involving a fatality.  At Joel A. Gordon & Associates, we will act quickly to secure accident scene photos, interview witnesses, obtain police records, and secure other valuable evidence needed to win your case.  Call now for a free consultation.
