Vernon Morris and Alvin Beck Killed in Orange County Six-Vehicle Crash on Interstate 10 near Adams Bayou

Orange County, Texas (October 31, 2019) – Two people were killed Wednesday morning in a multi-vehicle crash in Orange County, according to a local news release.

The fatal crash was reported around 5:00 a.m. on Interstate 10 near Adams Bayou.

According to a preliminary investigation, the westbound traffic on Interstate 10 was stopped due to a wreck. The driver of a westbound GMC pickup truck failed to control their speed and hit several stopped vehicles. A total of six vehicles were involved in the crash.

Two people in the first vehicle that was hit by the pickup truck, a Hyundai, were pronounced dead at the scene.

They have been identified as Vernon Morris, 40, and Alvin Beck, 45, both of Mississippi.

The GMC driver Jesse Griffin, 29, of Vidor, has been charged with two counts of intoxication manslaughter.

The crash closed all lanes of Interstate 10, near Adams Bayou. Traffic was diverted at the Simmons Drive exit. Motorists were urged to seek alternate routes.

An investigation is underway.
