Viola Miller, Rose Smart Injured in U.S. Highway 96 Accident near Bill Lowe Drive in Sabine County

Sabine County, Texas (April 16, 2022) – Viola Miller, 72, of Bronson, and Rose Smart, 69, of Beaumont, were injured in a Friday afternoon car crash in Sabine County, authorities said.

The crash happened at around 2:50 p.m. on April 15 on U.S. Highway 96, just south of Bill Lowe Drive.

According to the authorities, a 2021 Chevrolet SUV was traveling southbound on U.S. Highway 96 when it rear-ended a 2015 GMC pickup that was attempting to turn left into a private drive.

The driver of the SUV, Viola Miller, and her passenger, Rose Smart, were taken to Jasper Memorial Hospital in unknown condition.

The driver and passenger of the pickup were taken to Hemphill County Hospital with unspecified injuries.

No further details about the crash were immediately provided.

The accident remains under investigation.
