Wesley Sanders and Maegan Sanders Killed, Douglas Leighton Injured in Hearne Three-Vehicle Crash on US Highway 190

Hearne, Texas (December 2, 2019) – Two people were killed, and another was seriously injured Sunday afternoon in a three-vehicle crash near Hearne, according to the DPS.

The fatal crash happened around 6:00 p.m. December 1, on US Highway 190.

DPS said Connor Lowen, 19, of Arlington, was driving a 2005 model Infinity southbound when she clipped the rear corner of a southbound 2019 Ford SUV. The impact caused the Ford to cross into oncoming traffic lane where it collided with a northbound 2019 Tesla.

The driver and passenger of the Ford, Wesley Sanders, 19, of Lexington, Texas, and Maegan Sanders, 19, of Laredo, were pronounced dead at the scene.

The Tesla driver, 25-year-old Douglas Leighton of Tyler, was taken to Baylor Scott & White Hospital in Temple with serious injuries.

Lowen was uninjured in the crash.

An investigation is underway.
