Woman Hit, Killed by Patrol Vehicle on Southwest Freeway in Houston

Woman Killed in Houston Pedestrian Accident on Southwest Freeway (Highway 59)

Houston, Texas (January 20, 2023) – A woman in her 30s or 40s was fatally hit by a patrol vehicle on January 17 in Houston, according to the police.

The deadly accident happened around 12:20 a.m., in the 11597 block of Southwest Freeway (South U.S. Highway 59) service road.

Police said two on-duty HPD officers in a marked patrol vehicle were en route to a call for service and were traveling northbound on the service road when the woman stepped into the roadway and was struck by the patrol vehicle.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Her name has not been released.

The officers, assigned to the South Gessner Patrol Division, were uninjured in the crash.

The police are investigating the crash.
