Woman Hit, Killed by Vehicle at Sovereign Drive and United Drive in Chinatown

69-Year-Old Woman Killed in Chinatown Pedestrian Accident at Sovereign Drive and United Drive

Chinatown, Texas (April 19, 2022) – A woman died after being struck by an unlicensed teenage driver Monday afternoon in Chinatown, according to police.

The deadly pedestrian crash happened at about 12:23 p.m. on April 18 at the intersection of Sovereign Drive and United Drive.

Police said the 69-year-old woman was trying to cross the street when she was hit by a grey Ford F-150 pickup truck turning left onto Sovereign Drive from United Drive.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics. Her name has not been released pending notification of next of kin.

The 15-year-old unlicensed female driver told the authorities she stopped at a stop sign before entering the intersection. Police said the teen was not intoxicated.

No further details about the crash were immediately provided.

The accident remains under investigation.
