Woman Killed in Houston Pedestrian Accident on Gulf Freeway near Telephone Road

Houston, Texas (June 15, 2022) – A woman died after being struck by a vehicle Wednesday morning in Houston, according to a local news source.

The fatal pedestrian crash occurred at around 5:24 a.m. on the Gulf Freeway inbound at Telephone Road, near Griggs.

According to the report, the woman was caught panhandling at a McDonald’s nearby and a Precinct 6 deputy spotted it and pulled up to her in his patrol vehicle. The woman then took off and ran across the feeder road and onto the freeway where she was struck by a car.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Her name has not been released.

Police temporarily closed Telephone Road following the wreck. Drivers were asked to seek alternate routes.

Further details regarding the collision were immediately provided.

The accident remains under investigation.
