Woman Injured in San Antonio Two-Vehicle Crash at Amires Place and 38th Street

San Antonio, Texas (August 2, 2021) – A woman was injured Friday night in a DUI crash in San Antonio, according to the police.

The crash happened around 8:25 p.m., July 30, in the 200 block of Amires Place at the intersection of N 38th Street.

Police said a black 2010 Lincoln MKZ was traveling westbound on Amires Place while a white 2011 GMC Sierra was traveling southbound on 38th Street northwest.

The Sierra ran a stop sign at the intersection and crashed into the passenger side of the Lincoln.

A woman who was a passenger in the Lincoln was taken to a university hospital in stable condition.

The Sierra driver was found to have been intoxicated and was arrested for intoxication assault.

The crash remains under investigation.

In Texas, a driver is legally intoxicated after consuming alcohol if their blood alcohol content (BAC) is .08% or higher. A driver is also considered intoxicated if they don’t have the normal use of their mental or physical faculties by reason of the introduction of alcohol. Alcohol however is not the only intoxicant, as drivers can become intoxicated by ingesting prescription and illegal drugs such as crack, marijuana, and cocaine.

Regardless of what substance caused the driver’s reaction time to become significantly altered, intoxication by any means can cause terrible accidents and injuries.
