Woman Killed in Wrong-Way Crash on Southwest Freeway in Sugar Land; Johnny Bladimir Martinez Arrested

Woman Killed in Sugar Land Two-Vehicle Crash on Southwest Freeway (US-59) at Highway 6; Johnny Bladimir Martinez Arrested

Sugar Land, Texas (November 17, 2020) – A woman was killed in a wrong-way crash early Monday morning in Sugar Land, according to police.

The fatal crash happened around 2:38 a.m., November 16, on the Southwest Freeway (US-59) southbound at Highway 6.

Police said Johnny Bladimir Martinez, 35, was driving a truck northbound in the southbound lanes of the freeway when he crashed head-on into a Jeep.

The Jeep driver, a woman in her 20s, was killed in the crash. Her name has not been released.

Martinez was taken to the hospital for treatment. He has been arrested and is facing intoxication manslaughter charges.

The crash closed US-59 southbound for several hours. It has since been reopened.

The crash remains under investigation.
