Woman Killed and Retired Officer Injured in Dallas Two-Vehicle Crash on Interstate 45

Dallas, Texas (December 21, 2021) – A woman was killed, and a retired off-duty police officer was injured Monday morning in a two-vehicle crash in southern Dallas, according to the police.

The fatal crash happened just after 4:30 a.m., December 20, in the 8800 block of Julius Schepps Freeway (Interstate 45) near the Simpson Stuart Road exit.

Police said a woman was driving a gray Nissan when she tried to change lanes to pass another and rear-ended an SUV that was blocking a road crew.

The SUV was parked in the left lane with emergency lights flashing.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Her name has not been released.

A retired officer was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

No other details were provided.

An investigation is underway.
