Zachary Collins Killed in San Antonio Plane Crash on Espada Road near Stinson Airport

San Antonio, Texas (August 13, 2020) – The two men who were injured last month in a plane crash that left another person dead in San Antonio have died, according to the Bexar County Medical Examiner’s office.

The fatal crash happened around 9:10 a.m., July 25, in the 9400 block of Espada Road, near Stinson Municipal Airport.

Authorities said a single-engine Piper PA-28 plane attempted to take off from the San Antonio Stinson field, and it crash-landed in the backyard behind a residence.

The plane caught fire after the crash, and firefighters extinguished the fire.

56-year-old Simon Wilett was pronounced dead at the scene.

28-year-old Robert Perguson and 33-year-old Zachary Collins were taken to the U.S. Army Institute of Surgical Research Burn Center in Brooke Army Medical Center with severe burns where they later died.

Officials said the plane was registered to pilot Robert Perguson.

The FAA is investigating the crash.
