Zoey Flynn and Lexi Jo Flynn Killed in Chillicothe Two-Vehicle Crash on U.S. 287

Chillicothe, Texas (September 8, 2022) – According to the DPS, the second Chillicothe ISD student who was involved in a crash earlier this month has died.

14-year-old Zoey Flynn reportedly died from her injuries on Sunday, September 4.

The crash happened on September 1, on U.S. 287.

DPS said a vehicle was facing northbound on a private road connected to US 287, while another car was traveling southbound on the highway.

The northbound vehicle reportedly failed to yield to the southbound car and pulled out in front of it, resulting in a collision.

The northbound vehicle was occupied by Zoey and her sister, 16-year-old Lexi Jo Flynn. Lexi was killed in the crash. Zoey was airlifted to a Lubbock hospital, where she later died. Both sisters were not wearing their seatbelts at the time of the crash. They were both students at Chillicothe ISD.

The two occupants from the other car were reportedly taken to Wilbarger General Hospital with minor injuries.

The troopers are investigating the crash.

Common Causes of Automobile Accidents

There are many different reasons why automobile, 18-wheeler, and motorcycle accidents occur, including driver negligence, driver inattention, texting and driving, speeding, fatigue, failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign, or private drive, running a red light, and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. While the factors listed above are the main causes of most accidents, there may also be other factors involved, which is why it’s important that an investigation be conducted before evidence disappears, especially in cases involving a fatality.  At Joel A. Gordon & Associates, we will act quickly to secure accident scene photos, interview witnesses, obtain police records, and secure other valuable evidence needed to win your case.  Call now for a free consultation.
