According to the Texas DPS, a state trooper had responded to a solo-vehicle collision around 12:40 a.m. on December 16 in the northbound lanes of the Dallas North Tollway near Keller Springs Road.

Dallas, TX – The Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating an incident that left a trooper critically injured after being struck by a car in Dallas Monday morning.

According to the Texas DPS, a state trooper had responded to a solo-vehicle collision around 12:40 a.m. on December 16 in the northbound lanes of the Dallas North Tollway near Keller Springs Road.

Reportedly, the DPS trooper was investigating the scene of the initial collision when he was struck by a Mini Cooper. The male trooper was injured and was transported to Plano Presbyterian Hospital where he was listed in critical condition.

Authorities said a private security guard who had stooped to assist the trooper was also struck by the Mini Cooper.

The private guard also was transported to Plano Presbyterian in an unknown condition. The driver of the Mini Cooper was also hospitalized with minor injuries.

Authorities say the driver cooperated with the investigation.

The incident remains under investigation.
