Colorado County, TX – A mother and her son tragically died following a collision involving two vehicles in Columbus earlier this month, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.
The accident took place on FM 109 at about 11:46 a.m. February 11.
According to the report, Bobby John Murphy of Needville, was driving a 2008 Ford F-250 pickup northbound on FM 109 when he drifted into the southbound side and collided with an oncoming 2001 Chevrolet Suburban SUV.

The driver of the Chevrolet, Rylee Nicole Schobel, 29, of Columbus, died at the scene.
Her two children, Jude Schobel, 10, and Lorelei Schobel, 7, were both rushed to Memorial Hermann Children’s Hospital with critical injuries and Jude was pronounced deceased four days later.
Murphy also had major injuries and was rushed to Columbus Community Hospital before being transferred to St. David’s Hospital in Austin.
The accident is under investigation.
