Ector County, TX. – Two drivers were killed in a head-on collision on Tuesday night in Ector County.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), the accident happened around 11:31 p.m. on US 385 at mile marker 361.

33-year-old Jose C. Balderas Conteras of Ballinger, TX., was driving a 2003 Ford Explorer northbound in the southbound lanes of U.S. 385 and collided with an oncoming 2021 Chevrolet Malibu driven by 20-year-old Emerald Neomi Carta, of Odessa.

Both drivers were pronounced dead at the scene.

Carta was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident, but Conteras was not wearing one.

More details about the accident were not released.

An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
