Joy was the passenger in the car and was transported to the hospital where she later died

Austin, TX. – Joy Simmons, 29, has been identified as the woman who died in a collision involving a firetruck earlier this month in Austin.
The fatal collision happened at the intersection of SH 71 and Presidential Boulevard at around 1 p.m. on March 4.
Joy and her friend were in a car at the intersection when they were hit by an Austin Fire Department fire truck responding to a call for service.

Joy was the passenger in the car and was transported to the hospital where she later died.
The driver of the car was transported to hospital where she was treated and released.
An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
