The semi-truck driver was charged with failure to stop and render aid and a collision involving death

Reeves County, TX. – A construction worker died after being struck by a semi-truck on Thursday afternoon.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the accident happened around 2:30 p.m. on Interstate 20 near mile marker 28.
A semi-truck was traveling west on Interstate 20 when the truck swerved to avoid slowed traffic and hit a construction zone worker.
The worker, 24-year-old Patrick Daniel Purdon, of Truth or Consequences, NM., was killed in the accident.
The semi-truck driver, Jose Alfonso Melendez, 77, of El Paso, was charged with failure to stop and render aid and a collision involving death.
More details about the accident were not released.
An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
