Shallowater, TX – The Texas Department of Public Safety has identified the passenger who was killed in a two-vehicle traffic collision at an intersection in Shallowater on Monday afternoon.
The DPS identified the victim as 21-year-old Andrew Perez.
Perez was pronounced dead at the scene after a Dodge Challenger he was in collided with a pickup truck at about 2 p.m. on April 21 at the intersection of U.S. 84 and FM 1294.
Authorities said the Challenger, operated by Raymond Gonzales, 20, of Lubbock, was traveling west on FM 1294 approaching a stop sign at the intersection with Highway 84.
At the same time, Antonia Gallegos, 31, of Clute, was driving the pickup truck southeast, also approaching the intersection.
Authorities said the Challenger pulled out in front of the pickup and the two vehicles collided.
Gonzales sustained critical injuries. Gallegos and her passenger sustained minor injuries. All three were transported to University Medical Center with critical injuries.

Shallowater, TX – One person was killed and three others were injured in a traffic collision at an intersection near Shallowater on Monday afternoon, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.
The incident took place on Highway 84 and FM 1294 at about 2 p.m. on April 21.
According to DPS, a Dodge Challenger collided with a pickup truck after the Dodge pulled out in front of the pickup.
A passenger in the Dodge, a 21-year-old man, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The driver of the Dodge was transported to UMC with critical injuries.
The two occupants of the pickup reported minor injuries.
The accident is under investigation.
