Lubbock, TX – Two Lubbock County Sheriff’s deputies were seriously injured Monday morning in a two-vehicle collision in Lubbock, according to the authorities.
The collision occurred just before 9:45 a.m. on September 8 in the area of Interstate 27 and 98th Street.
Authorities said deputies Cavazos and Martinez were assisting a motorist who was stranded on southbound I-27 when a semi-truck crashed into their patrol unit.
The deputies were trapped between the disabled patrol unit and the guardrail of the 98th Street overpass.
Deputies Cavazos and Martinez were taken to UMC with serious injuries.
Another person was taken to UMC with moderate injuries.
The Lubbock Police Department’s Major Crash Unit is investigating the accident.
