Austin, TX – Five people were injured, two seriously, after several vehicles collided on Interstate Highway 35 in Austin Friday afternoon.

The accident happened at about 12:34 p.m. in the 10000 block of South Interstate Highway 35, According to Austin-Travis Couty Emergencey Medical Services (ATCEMS).

EMS medics and Austin Fire personnel responded to the scene and located four vehicles involved in the collision.

One person was trapped in one of the involved vehicles and had to be extricated.

According to ATCEMS, the medics found a total of five patients at the scene. The EMS medics transported two adults who had potentially serious, but non-life-threatening injuries, to St. Davids South Austin.

The other three patients did not require transportation.

No additional information was provided.

The accident remains under investigation.
