Maria Federico Killed in Amarillo Car Accident on Lakeside Drive at FM 1912

Potter County, TX. – 78-year-old Maria Federico, of Spearman, was killed in a collision that left one other person injured on Thursday morning in Amarillo.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the accident happened around 7 a.m. on Lakeside Drive at FM 1912.

A 2007 Chevrolet Silverado was traveling north on Lakeside Drive when the driver reportedly disregarded a stop sign and collided with a westbound 2014 Kia Forte driven by 62-year-old Daniel Rojas of Spearman.

Rojas and Federico were taken to an Amarillo area hospital where Federico later died.

Police say Federico was a passenger in the Kia.

More details about the accident were not released.

An investigation into the accident is underway.
