Albert Castaneda Killed in Pedestrian Accident on President George Bush Turnpike in Grand Prairie

Officer Albert Castaneda ID’d as Victim Killed in Grand Prairie Pedestrian Accident on President George Bush Turnpike

Grand Prairie, Texas (June 8, 2019) – Grand Prairie Officer Albert Castaneda, 38, has been identified as the officer who was struck and killed by a vehicle Friday morning while standing outside of his car running radar in Grand Prairie.

The deadly accident happened shortly before 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 7 on President George Bush Turnpike near Dickey Road.

Police said Castaneda was standing near his patrol SUV on the inside shoulder of President George Bush Turnpike when a northbound Nissan 300ZX lost control and struck Castaneda.

The force of the impact caused Castaneda to be thrown over the highway to the ground below.

Castaneda was transported to Medical City Arlington hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries at about 10: 58 a.m.

The Nisan driver was uninjured.

The crash remains under investigation by the Texas Department of Public Safety.
