Benito Garcia Killed and Jamie Alejandro Gonzalez Injured in Coke County Two-Vehicle Crash on Highway 277
Coke County, Texas (May 29, 2020) – A man was killed Wednesday afternoon in a head-on collision in Coke County, according to a local news source.
The fatal crash happened on May 27, on US Highway 277.
DPS said Jamie Alejandro Gonzalez, 35, of San Angelo, was driving a tractor-trailer southbound on the highway while Benito Garcia, 52, of San Angelo, was driving a tractor-trailer northbound.
Gonzalez’s truck then hydroplaned left its lane and crashed head-on into Garcia’s truck.
A thunderstorm had passed through the area, leaving water on the roadway, and that’s what caused Gonzalez’s truck to hydroplane.
Garcia was pronounced dead at the scene.
Gonzalez was taken to Shannon Medical Center in San Angelo with incapacitating injuries.
The authorities are investigating the crash.
