33-Year-Old Bessy Lainez Killed and 33-Year-Old Vincente Oropeza-Diaz Injured in Parmer County Two-Vehicle Crash at FM 1381 and U.S. Highway 60

Parmer County, Texas (April 6, 2020) – One person was killed, and another was injured in a two-vehicle crash on Friday in Parmer County, according to the DPS.

The fatal crash happened around 9:45 a.m., April 3, at the intersection of FM 1381 and U.S. Highway 60.

DPS said a semi-truck towing a trailer was heading eastbound on U.S. Highway 60, approaching the intersection.

Bessy Lainez, 33, of Fort Worth, was driving a truck and was stopped at a stop sign on FM 1381. Lainez then drove onto U.S. Highway 60 and was struck by the semi-truck.

Lainez was pronounced dead at the scene. 

33-year-old Vincente Oropeza-Diaz, also of Fort Worth, who was a passenger in the truck, was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

The driver of the semi-truck was uninjured in the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.
