Carolyn Barnett Fults ID’d as Woman Killed in Panola County Crash on Texas Highway 315 near Carthage
Panola County, Texas (March 15, 2019) – The woman who was killed Wednesday afternoon in a two-vehicle collision in Panola County has been identified as Carolyn Barnett Fults, 66, of Lufkin,  according to authorities.
The fatal accident occurred at around 12:52 p.m. Wednesday on Texas Highway 315 approximately 11 miles southwest of Carthage.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety,  a 2013 Hyundai Sonata driven by Fults, was traveling westbound on Texas Highway 315 at a speed that was too fast for the wet roadway when she lost control of the car.
The Hyundai then drifted into the eastbound lane, where it hit a 2012 Volvo truck-tractor rig that was hauling a semi-trailer.
Fults was declared dead at the scene and her body was transported to Gipson Funeral Home in Lufkin.
Robert James Sanders, 66,  of Mont Belvieu, who was the driver of the truck, was taken to UT Health Carthage in unknown condition.  He was treated at the hospital and released.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
