Eldridge Miller Killed, Loretta Miller Injured in Amarillo Crash on Hwy 287

Amarillo, Texas (November 29, 2019) – A man was killed in a traffic accident Tuesday afternoon west of Quanah during a grass fire, a local news source reported.

The fatal crash occurred on Tuesday, November 26, on Hwy 287.

DPS said a 1984 Peterbilt towing livestock trailer was traveling eastbound on the highway. Heavy smoke from a massive grass fire was covering the highway, and the trailer slowed down to a stop in the right lane behind other congested traffic.

Eldridge Miller, 63, of Borger, was driving an SUV when he was unable to stop in time and crashed into the trailer.

Eldridge was taken to Quanah’s hospital, where he later died.

Loretta Miller, also of Borger, who was a passenger in the SUV, was taken to an Amarillo hospital for treatment.

An investigation is ongoing.
