Eric Leuvano Killed, Ever Montes Injured in Two-Vehicle Crash at US 62 and CR 109 in Gaines County

Gaines County, Texas – One person was killed and another was injured Wednesday night in a two-vehicle crash at a Gaines County intersection, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

The fatal crash happened around 10:21 p.m., April 10, at the intersection of US 62 and CR 109.

DPS said Ever Montes,23, was driving a Dodge Ram 1500 northeast on US 62 while 49-year-old Eric Leuvano, of Hobbs, was driving a Chevrolet Tahoe southwest on US 62.

Montes attempted to turn northbound onto CR 109, but failed to yield the right of way and was struck by Leuvano.

Leuvano was taken to UMC Hospital in Lubbock where he later died.

Montes was taken to Yoakum County Hospital with minor injuries.

The DPS is investigating the crash.
