Moore County, TX. - A 40-year-old Amarillo woman was killed in a two-vehicle crash on Wednesday afternoon in Moore County.

The fatal crash occurred on U.S. 87 near County Road 8 at around 3:37 p.m., according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

Brenda Guadalupe Galaviz was driving a 2011 Chevrolet Traverse westbound through a construction zone and attempted to make a U-turn and collided with a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado traveling in the adjacent lane.

Galaviz was transported to Moore County Hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries.

The driver of the Chevrolet Silverado, Mitchell Alexander Kirk, 32, was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

Further details regarding the collision were not released by law enforcement.

An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
