Casandra Welch Killed in Texarkana Crash at U.S. Highway 59 and I-49
Texarkana, TX. - Casandra Welch, 32, has been identified as one of the two people who were killed in a car crash on Thursday afternoon in Texarkana.
The fatal crash occurred at the intersection of U.S. Highway 59 and Interstate 49 at around 4:30 p.m., according to the Bowie County Sheriff's Office.
A Volvo tractor-trailer traveling on I-49 reportedly failed to yield the right of way while attempting to turn south and collided with a northbound Volkswagen SUV driven by Welch.
Both Welch and a passenger of the Volkswagen SUV were pronounced dead at the scene.
Three other passengers of the Volkswagen were taken to the hospital with unknown injuries.
More details on the crash were not provided.
The Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating the crash.
